Officer Roles & Terms

Officer roles, responsibilities, and leadership terms for the Muslim Democratic Caucus – North Dallas.

MDCND operates on a sustainability-first leadership model. Officers are expected to contribute a modest baseline of time during off-season months, with increased but temporary commitments during election cycles or major events. Responsibilities are shared across officers to avoid burnout, and no officer is expected to maintain campaign-level hours year-round.

President

  • Leads the vision, strategy, and overall direction of the chapter.
  • Serves as primary spokesperson and representative of the chapter.
  • Serves as primary liaison with MDC Texas, coalition partners, elected officials, and community organizations.
  • Oversees chapter operations, events, advocacy efforts, and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinates officer activities and ensures continuity, growth, and sustainability of the chapter.

Vice President

  • Serves as the primary support and backup to the President.
  • Facilitates meetings, attends events, and represents the chapter when the President is unavailable.
  • Assists with strategic planning, event coordination, member engagement, and chapter growth.
  • Helps oversee ongoing initiatives and ensure continuity of leadership and operations.

Secretary

  • Maintains meeting minutes, chapter records, and organizational documents.
  • Manages chapter communications, email correspondence, and announcements.
  • Provides administrative and organizational support to the President and chapter leadership.

Treasurer

  • Coordinates with MDC Texas regarding finances, dues, and donations.
  • Maintains financial records and reporting.
  • The chapter currently does not maintain its own bank account.

Social Media Coordinator

  • Maintains social media platforms.
  • Creates announcements and public updates.
  • Provides communications support for events and initiatives.

All officers share responsibility for event planning, voter engagement efforts, chapter meetings, and community outreach.

Leadership terms

  • Flexible multi-year terms.
  • Officers may continue serving as long as they remain willing and are re-elected by the chapter.
